hi all its now 2am in the uk... had a power out since 1am.. i have a 155 gal freshwater tank.. with a 55 gal sump.
rang the supplier and its the main sub station.. could be 4am could be 10am...

arrggghh...

i have no back up at all... i bought an inverter ages ago.and its not pure sine..

any ideas. ive come on here as i know ppl are awake. . i have generator but dont think the neigbours would be impressed...

I would use the generator if need be. With a tank that size it will take some time for temperature to drop however no water movement could really kill some things especially since you're having 0 oxygen exchange with 0 movement

If you can't use you're generator then worse case take something like a net or paddle (haven't tried this) and stir things up a bit to get some water movement.

thanks for the reply... power came back on as i had just read your post via my mobile.. i was just starting to paddle and the pump kicked in... was weired,
anyhow... gonna get a pure sine inverter as the one i bought isnt.

backup power 101 needed....lol

was more bothered about the sump media....

Battery operated airpumps are excellent, inexpensive ways of keeping a tank water moving and aerated.

what if its 11-13hrs as stated by the electric company...

no filtration?

this is the 4th powerout in 11 months...

never experienced this

Pure sine isn't really important for motors (they just run less efficiently). More so for tube TVs. You'll be fine using your inverter.
