As im setting up my 120g I need advice on power outage. What if?!

What do I need to protect myself but not spending a lot of $. Will just a air pump work? Or do I need a power head running...?

What do I do about the heater? If my furnace stops working Ill have more issues then just my tank, I know this for sure.... What a horrible thought.

Any advice would be great!

Keep in mind a battery back up will only last a limited amount of time. Priorities are as you've already pointed out; heat & oxygen.

In the south many of us have generators. Luckily we don't usually have to worry about heat. During Hurricane Matthew I manually oxygenated by hand with a cup every few hours (what a PITA).

I recommend planning a way to keep the heaters going and flow within the tank. You can take the heaters from the sump and place them in the DT. That will be minimal equipment to power thus prolonging battery life or gas consumption. If you do not have a canopy covering the DT will help reduce heat loss.
