Power outage with UPS

Hello I just had a power outage that lasted about an hour or so. It was long enough for my AC to loose its time and date. How long should the 9v battery last?

I am thinking of adding my AC II to a UPS (battery backup) but still want it to be aware of power-outages (get an email alert on my phone). I have Aquanotes 3.0 connected to my AC full time. Is ther any easy way of obtaining poweroutage info fom the UPS or from Windows XP? The computer is connected to the UPS and is aware of the outage but the AC doesn't when it is connected to the UPS.

I think the 9 volt battery only lasts about 4 hours when it is fully charged. So about an hour or so is about right if the battery has been in use for a while. What you can do is to plug the ACII into the power supply (not the UPS) and then get another power adapter for nine volts. On this additional power adapter you would cut off the end that supplies the 9 volts and solder a 9 volt battery clip (I think radio shack has them and may even have the enire power adapter with a clip built on) . Make darn sure you have the polarity correct. Then attach this clip to the clip in the battery compartment case of the ACII. You would then plug the nine volt adapter into the UPS. This way the ACII will always have nine volt battery backup power from the ups which will last longer then a nine volt battery. The main power adapter from the ACII still would have to be plugged into a plug not on the UPS so that it can sense a power failure.

Hope this helps.

kattner, thanks for the post. That is a very elegant solution! I was trying to make it to complicated!
