Power outtage!!!

I would be more concerned about your oxygenation levels in the tank then the temp. We lost 22 fish (from 4 tanks) from a 24 hour power loss because of the loss of oxygen. Since then we have picked up an inverter for the tank.

I would be stirring the water every 20 minutes or so, trying to keep up the oxygenation.

+1 I did the same, I stirred the water with a spatula from the bottom to the top for a few minutes in every half an hour for over 9 hours.

Everyone made it. The power was off for 30 hours!!! What should i be doing now. i been checking for ammonia and saw tiny spikes of .25 also did some ph tests and found that using the prime dropped my ph to 8.0 and even 7.9 in one tank. Thinking of doing 25% water changes this weekend. What else should i be doing??? I noticed that my water change trash can of over 40 gallons had some ammonia show up in a test i did? Is] this possible with no livesstock in there? Could no water circulation of 30 hours cause ammonia spikes in premixed saltwater??? I have the power heads going full force today with the lid off hoping to fix this. also added a little prime to it. Just wondering how this happened and is it usable at this point because i know im gonna be doing water changes soon???

Probably your ammonia test kit is bad. You shouldnt be registering any ammonia in brand new water.

I wish i saw this sooner. Go get a deep cycle battery, jumper cables, smart relay, and inverter. It's a survival kit until you get a generator.

Apologies if you already mentioned it, but are you using tap water?

Yeah im using tap water. Gonna get the rodi this weekend i hope. Would that be why my new water had an ammonia reading?
