I have seen, in the past, some nice setups for inside a stand which include, power strips and gfci outlets. Does anyone remember or have a link to some or any of these?..cannot find one at all with all my searching. I am moving froma 125 to a 180 and want to do it clean and right...thanks for any input...Roy

I had a nearby sub box on the outside of my house right near my tank, so it was really easy for me to run two 20 amp circuits directly into my stand. I used twist lock connectors to attach the outlet panel to the circuits so I can easily unconnect the outlet panel and modify it if I need to. You can see my tank if you click the red house, but here are the pictures of the electrical setup...

In the last picture you can see that I replaced some of the bottom outlets (one circuit) with a set of outlets that are controlled by a ReefKeeper. It does all of the light timing and temperature controlled fans and heaters.

I've definitely seen more elegant electrical setups, but there was a limit to the time that I was willing to spend on this particular part of my tank setup. This system serves me well, although I am using nearly every outlet!

I was just on ur thread before I came back here to check for any posts..awesome thread and very informative....only problem with the power coming into the house and that is I am renting, and its an older home on the beachside here in ormond by the sea and I keep asking the landlord...well, u kinda guess where that went...I switched from a 400w mh in the center of the 125 to all 250's so i could add a 40 gallon breeder with a 175 mh and not pop the breakers....anyhow...I was looking at the DJ strips I guess...screw them to a board so u can just see the fronts...no cords in the back type of thing...saw these on ebay...can anyone tell me the difference between the two?

$25 shipped $30 no shipping

thanks again

Ahhh - makes it tough dealing with the landlord. I don't know much about those DJ outlet strips...

Got my 8 switch outlet at HyTechGear.com. Bought 2 and one had a bad switch. Over all it was a steal for $15+ per strip.

man i guess i was pushing it. on one outlet i was running 3 x 175s and 440 vho. as well as the return pump skimmer. canopy fans and power heads..
