Power strips, power bars, surge protectors?!?!?

I'm having a bit of a debate with someone in another forum on here.

Who DOES NOT have one of these devices currently in use?

I have done both I prefer to run a new line from breaker box then wire many outlets up right at tank everything plugs into outlets no water getting on power strips and such.

My dad is an electrician so I am very fortunate. He set up a whole circuit just for my aquarium. no power strips used.

This is under the tank. It's a corner tank and there's not much room. I was able to drill directly down to the basement for a sump. All tank plugs are on the same circuit. Just powerheads and lights plugged in upstairs:

In the basement...ok I lied, there is one powerhead, but it's just so I can turn all powerheads and the return pump off at the same time for water changes.
The blue bucket is my water change bucket. The actual sump is on the other side of the wooden half wall. You can see the lines to and from the tank.

Is that what you wanted a picture of? Hope it helps!

I really don't know why you wouldn't use one. Same goes for PC's - people spend thousands on our equipment but not $5 on a surge protector.
That being said, I run my tank through two APC UPS's and I use a power strip / surge off of one of those just for the extra outlets. I've never had a place with enough outlets to run a salt tank on their own.
In my old house, my tank had its own breaker. I would now, but I don't think the LL would like me doing that.

I dont have any power strips per say.. I have a dc8 on my controller though but everything else has its own dedicated outlet

Nice Jeff...so did you run all new circuits to accommodate your tanks? Meaning, you knew your tank would be in this spot and would need this many outlets for equipment?

yeah I have two circuits in my fish room one runs the room stuff a/c heat vents etc then the other is wired into 12 outlets for the tank itself where my skimmer pumps and supplemental power come from

Actually its three circuits sorry 1 is for the dc8 here is a pic from before I got to go an clean everything up
