Powerhead flow rate?

In setting up a sump for a 30 gallon tank will the flowrate of the powerhead needed for the sump effect the display tank or water circulation, there where the horses will live? Yes,newbie! Thanks in advance.

That all depends on how you introduce the flow back to the tank.
You need flow in all areas to keep food from depositing where you can't get at it for removal and as far as the seahorses are concerned, as long as you have hitches available in low, medium, and high flow area's so they can choose what they want, and, as long as they can't be blasted against something to damage them, they will do just fine.

A manifold with multiple outlets pointed toward the surface would help increase aeration without much disruption of the overall flow in the tank.

What would be a good example of a manifold with multiple outlets? manifold? Pipes returning the sump water?

Yes, a pipe across the back near the surface connected to your return line, with 90 degree elbows on each end and a Tee or 2 in between for outlets would be considered a manifold.

If you can DIY, then you can buy pvc pipe and fittings from Tractor Supply Co. pretty reasonable and plumb it yourself. Diameter of pipe will depend on the amount of flow from the return pipe.
IME, the manifold Bill is talking about requires a heck of a lot of water to be able to fill the manifold and have water exiting the "t's" and the "90's".
I found it better to t into the middle of a pipe, cap the ends and drill holes along the length of the tube so that the cross sectional area of the holes doesn't add up to more than the cross sectional area of the pipe. (A=3.1416XrXr)
For example, for a 1/2" diameter pipe you could drill four 1/4" holes.
I've never bought anything like that so I don't know what is available.
