Powerhead for Adding Mix Water w/8' Head

I am in the process of setting up a basement sump, which will eventually include a pump powerful enough to pump 600 gph up to the display tank with 8-12 feet of head.

In the meantime, before I get that pump, I am wondering if there are powerheads strong enough to pump water from my saltwater mix can in the basement up to the tank at a flow just enough to get the water there through say 1/4 to 1/2 inch tubing. That way I don't have to lug buckets of water up to my living room.

go with a mag 3 or 5. They have good flow, a pretty inexspensive, and are good quality. The rio's arent nearly as good.

Don't get the rio, unless you want a pump that will only last a couple of months...

A mag or the Quiet 1 pump work great and will last a long time.

a mag 3-5 has a maximum pumping height of only 10 feet. a mag 7 is 12feet, and a mag 9.5 is 13 feet. if youre distance is gonna be closer to 12ft, then go with at least a mag 9.5

oops...Pinaplex is right..for some reason I was thinking you had only 6 ft of head.

Honestly, the best thing you could do is to pick the pump you are going to use long term. Why spend money on a temporary pump just to spend more money on another one. An iwaki or pan world would be a good choice.
