hi every one. just setting up my first reef tank and will be keeping a mixed reef. i know i'll need good flow for the sps(is 30x tank volume ok?)

what powerheads or circulation do you all recommend. i cant afford tunze so are seio ok or doen't it really matter as long as i've got lots of cirulation.

where do people generally place the powerheads?

i think u mean seio. yes those are good but stay away from the regular line of Rio pumps. Seios arent like your normal powerheads, they use a different type of impeller, so the water moves differently. If youre gunna use powerheads go with maxijet 1200. theyre small and move a good amount of water.

In my 180G 72"Lx24Hx24W SPS tank I have 3 Seios. Two are 1500 that are controlled by my ACIII. The Seio 850 is running constantly. This seems to be working out great! The closest Seio to my SPS is about 14" away pointing at the SPS from bottom up. I am currently trying to cut my power costs so I am thinking of going to Tunze 6060 and replace my 850 and 1500.

Good luck.

Here is a chart of the power usage that each Seio pump draws. Also it gives you all the spec also. Hope this helps...

I am buying 2 Seio 820's for my 55 gallon tank, on monday. I origanlly wanted to go with Tunzee, But found that would be way to much for my tank, So Thats why I am going with the Seio's.
