Powerheads for 180g tank

Hello,

I'm in the process of assembling a 180g (72x24x24) tank and am trying to determine which powerheads would be best. I'm assuming the 6105 or 6155 units would be best suited to a tank this size?

Most likely this tank will stard off LPS but I'm sure SPS will be added down the road.

I intend to run these off my Apex controller.

Thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply Roger. I figure one on each end of the tank and then vary the intensities via the apex. If I eventually go more heavy on SPS corals I suppose another 1 or 2 could be added (to the ends or middle) but if that was the plan would you still recommend the 6055s or would the 6155s scaled back from wide open be a better solution?

Thanks

I have two 6105's (one is located on the left side rear aimed at the middle front glass, the other is located on the right side front aimed at the middle back glass), one 6055 (Aimed to push water along the back of my tank), and one 6095 (pushing water along the front of the tank opposite end from the 6055). I get a nice circulator current like this. My tanks is the same, 72 x 24 x 24, 180g

Great, thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

I have a same size tank and I have 2 6105s. If I want to create wave, should I place both pump on the same side? Right now, I have them one on each side.

I wouldn't know how to set it up, but it should be possible, essentially the pumps are on alternately but with the same frequency, so when one is off the other is on.

If you are using the Apex, check out the Neptune Systems sponsor forum on here. One of the stickies is a link to an 'unofficial' guide that explains how to setup resonsance waves using the Apex in great detail. Otherwise, just ask in there and someone will help you out.
