what are the best powerheads for a 58gal oceanic reef tank mostly sps and how many will i need

Best is very subjective. If you have the bucks ($250-$300,) the Tunze streams are very nice. Since I'm on a budget, I would get a Seio 1100 gph pump (about $80 I think.) That pump plus the return flow should be plenty for your tank.

Budget would be either Seio, or a modded Maxi Jet. If you have the money, it is hard to beat a Tunze, or a Vortech.

Yes, no rios. had one burn up and kill half my livestock at one point in time, if i ever see a rio factory im gonna burn half of their stuff up

Go with a Tunze stream with controller, i highly suggest the controller if you get a tunze its like a kid in a candy store but with practical uses

Also, use MJ's for dead spots in the tank. Seios are in between. If you are about saving money or dont have the money use a bunch of mod'd MJ's, but if you got the dough, get a tunze.

I have heard the vortecs are nice, but havent used one or even seen one in person so i dont know.

In my 58 (mainly SPS with a BTA and a Haddoni carpet) I have 3 SEIO 620s (bought them before the bigger ones came out). My return is split in two and the pump is rated at 600 GPH. All is doing great, but I am tempted to get the bigger SEIOs, but mine are still working.
