PPE Prototype?

I received this frag through trade. I was told that she obtained these PPEs through Blane Perun personally. Who knows... she seemed to know alot about the company and him as a person. Regardless I could care less because I love these polyps one way or another. It doesn't look like the classis look of the PPE but on the other hand it matches the color spectrum... When I first got them about a month ago they were browned out as she said she had it under PCs... I have them now under dual 250w 20K HM MH.... They have really colored out well... I expect them to continue to color out even more and hopefully more dominant in the green skirt and mouth. Please tell me what you think....

I would have to say not PPE....The green is only in the mouth and does not extend to the oral face of the polyp....Still cool none the less....

Very Nice, but do not look like PPE's.
Kind of makes you wonder about the elaborate story the seller gave you.

Not a great pic, but these are PPE's.;)

I have no idea whether they are or not but they look awesome to me :) I'm digging the ones on the right of those as well. Cool collection.

Nice zoas, but definitely not PPE's. PPE's are Zoanthus gigantus (one of the few easily recognizable zoanthids out there). Characteristics of Z. gigantus are white striping on the underside of the polyp (visible when it closes the oral disc), as well as the green slit mouth (i.e., no neon green centers, just the mouth slit). There are green people eaters, so don't get me wrong on the no neon green centers- they just have to have the neon green mouth slit. Charateristics of PPE's are that same (of course, as they are Z. gigantus), except for coloration. PPE's are a nice purple disc (different shades depending on lighting) with a neon green skirt and the neon green mouth slit (no other greens). The ones you show have a green center, not a green slit mouth and appear to be the same as normal the smaller variety of Zoanthus most have as zoanthids. HTH.
