Prazi and Maracyn 2, any known interactions?

Title says it all. I have three pyramid butterflies that came in with flukes. I did a FW dip on each of them, which got rid of a lot of the parasites, but one of the fish developed a case of popeye a day later.

Initially it tried to eat and appeared as though its depth perception was off. Now it's not really trying to eat.

I think I'd like to start a FW Maracyn 2 treatment, but I'm not sure if there are any negative consequences. I may call NFP to or row to consult them.

It's both, but one eye is pretty mild and the other eye is more noticeable.

I know flukes came off the eye and its also very possible that the fish banged into the sides of the specimen container during the dip, so I guess I'm hoping it is just trauma related.

So the popeye went away all on its own, which is a good thing. However, two days ago I noticed the actual flesh around one of the pyramids mouth's was deteriorating. I've never seen anything like it to be honest. The fish wants to eat, but has trouble judging where the food is since the upper half of it's jaw has deteriorated.

Anybody ever seen anything like this? I'm not really sure how to proceed. I'm thinking of using the Nitrafuracin green powder.

I really want to be proactive because i'm noticing what looks like early symptoms of the same problem on another one of the pyramids? Anybody have any recommendations.

Today is my last day of the first round of prazi and I'd like to start a treatment of some kind tomorrow night. I'll try to get a picture, but all I have at the moment is my iPhone.

Can I start it this morning before the round of prazi is complete tonight? All three came loaded with flukes, so I did FW dips which removed most of the parasites. I don't know if these two drugs interact, I should have called NFP I suppose.

Remove prazi and finish that treatment later. Most of nfp products don't mix well with others.

So I did the first dosage of the NFP today, and i'm a little hazy on the treatment period and interval.

The bottle says to dose everyday 1/4 tsp per 20 gallons with a 25% water change prior to each dosage.

How can this be? doesn't that increase the concentration significantly in the aquarium? It doesn't appear to be specific on treatment lenght either? Any thoughts.

Re-dose for the water that was replaced, if ammonia is under control go 5 days then a large water change and re-dose. I've had fish in treatment from 4 to 16 days. I go two days past clearance. I use a ten gallon specifically for ngp, I do a 90 percent water change every other day and re-dose. I currently have a bellus angle in treatment now.

So i've got about 40 gallons of water. Ammonia wasn't an issue last night, although I haven't checked it this morning. Is this product know to cause ammonia spikes?

Also, I'm still not sure if I should be waiting five days or doing a water change today. Is the purpose of the water change to control ammonia? If no ammonia, no need for a water change?

when you say past clearance, do you mean two days past any signs of an infection?

Apologize for all the questions and thanks for your help so far, this stuff is a new treatment to me.

Yes the water change is for ammonia, 5 day duration is perfectly fine. Past clearance I mean 2 days past last noticable sign. I'd say 10 days is ideal

Gotcha, so this stuff will hurt the nitrifying bacteria then? i've got an alert badge in there, so if I see it start to change, I'll do a 20 gallon water change and redose for the 20 gallons of new water.

Thanks again for all your help.

Matt
