Ok, so I'm treating 4 fish for Ich. They've been in copper since 1 Jan. I've got them in 2.0ppm Coppersafe; I test every night to ensure the level remains stable. Now, to be fair, I only got a copper test kit which accurately measures Coppersafe on 1/11, so I can only be 100% certain they've been in 2.0ppm Coppersafe since that day. So almost 2 weeks now.
In any case, my PB Tang has been twitching her head almost non-stop now. It started as an every now & then thing, but now it's gotten really bad. I assume it's either Ich in her gills or flukes. The Ich I'm doing everything I can for. I didn't want to f/w dip her to confirm flukes because I figured that would just be too much. So, reluctantly, I dosed Prazi on Sunday. The fish haven't looked good since, just sort of mopping around, eating very little.
My 1st question is: Does anyone know how long Prazi stays active in the water? I've heard 72 hrs but I can't find anything definitive. I guess I should just call the manufacturer. 2nd question: Anyone ever experience heavy breathing w/Prazi? I'm guessing it's not too unusual w/Prazi as it drops the available O2 levels. Just don't remember this ever happening before.
I'm tempted to do a WC but I feel that might be counterproductive if she/they really do have flukes. I need to give the Prazi time to work before I start taking it out with WCs. My Salifert ammonia test kit always shows 0.25, but the people who make Coppersafe have already told me that copper can give you a false positive. Seachem ammonia badge shows 0 ammonia, as always.
So, what would you do? My fish are all breathing hard, just staying in one place and not eating (much). I'm open to any and all suggestions.
