quick question, i have my lineatus, rhomboid and flame pair all in qt right now. They are eating very well and its time for a prazipro treatment to ensure there are no internal parasites. My question is what are you recomendations with 15gal of water give or take a gal or two. Also length of time to prazi?

Thanks,
derek

I usually spread the dosage over 2 days so it will be a little easier on the fish. After 6 days I perform a 30-50% (depending on the size of tank I'm working with) water change and redose the 2nd round. After 6 days on the 2nd round perform water change and use carbon to take out the remaining prazi.

I never QT wrasses, especially faires, unless completely necessary. In my experience, wrasses don't respond well at all to any medicated treatments. I lost wrasses on three different occasions while medicating (lineatus, rhomboid and mccosker's). My recommendation would be just to keep them in an acclimation box in the DT for a few weeks. This way you can keep a close eye on them for any kind of illness, and be able to treat them accordingly (this way you use less medication and cause as little stress as possible). Hope this helps.

I spread out the first dose over two days. Then re-dosed at 6 days. After another 6 days I changed 30% of the water because the fish seemed to be cured. My wrasses are hardy, like the ones you have and they did not appear to notice the treatment.

I have several wrasse of all types. All have been QTd with copper and a de-wormer similar to Prazi-Pro. I've never lost one that i could blame on the process. I've Qtd all fish the same way for years and have not seen any sign of a parasite in any of my DTs since I can remember. I know there are a lot of arguments against this procedure; but one parasite in any of my DTs would nullify any of them.

I always spread out any medication over a few days. I add a little wait an hour add a little more then wait an hour and spread it out over 2-3 days as well.

this is what i will do as well. Add a 1/2 the dose then wait a few days and add the other half. After 6 days i will 50%water change and do the same dosage sched.

Not sure if you want to wait too many days as the med may not be potent. I think a day to a day and a half is more than enough but that's just my thought.

I put a filamented flasher wrasse in qt, prazi the next day,for 6 days.He didn't even notice it .Started eating black worms like a pig the first day of med.

I treat very similar to flameangle88.

In terms of bad reaction to Prazi I think it is more of a reaction of killing of the external and internal parasites rather than the reaction to the drug itself.

i have always just did a 5 minute fw temp ph adjusted then half hour in quick cure and never had issue's, maybe just lucky but it has worked for years for me

Question: is it possible that you would be giving the parasites the opportunity to survive the meds if you did not dose them according to the instructions?
