Prazipro for QT tank

They are for completely different things. Prazipro is primarily for internal parasites (worms, etc.) and for flukes. Copper is used to treat external parasites such as Ich and Velvet. Both have their place. I use a different method for Ich treatment and have been lucky to only have encountered Velvet one time. Internal parasites however are very common in new fish.

Most find that PraziPro is not harsh on fish and use it for every single new addition. It helps to treat things that may easily go unnoticed.

If you are looking to find other ways to get around ICH without the copper (which copper is much more harsh on the fish) the tank transfer method is a great option for which PraziPro can be implemented with. It might be worth a read for you and as stressful as it initially sounds, the process is much less stress than copper on both the owner and the fish. There is a sticky under New to the Hobby for it.

The copper I would keep on hand just incase you have to deal with velvet.

What is your QT process now?

I use the tank transfer along with a Prazipro treatment for all new fish before I put them in my quarantine tank. The Prazipro seems to be gentle enough on the fish that it is the one medication I use on fish even if they are not showing any symptoms of disease.

Sorry guys so all new fish bought should be put in QT and treated with prazipro as a preventative measure just incase and monitored for ich or velvet? Or treated for it just incase before put in DT

Putting them in QT and treating with Prazi while monitoring for other issues is a good step. Ich can be asymptomatic so a good way to get through that aspect without treating all fish coming in with copper is the Tank Transfer method which allows for Prazi to be used still.

A simple QT can be set up to help avoid issues later and is worth it. If you need help getting a QT approach for little money or little space there are definitely people with a lot of ideas.

I personally say I have a QT and observation tank. During the TTM and Prazi-Pro stage, I considered that to be my QT. When they go into the 20 long tank, I considered that my observation where they will spend the next 6-7 weeks, being observed.
