Pre drilled tank ?

Ok--the visual of a pre-drilled tank with no visible tubes/wires etc is of great interest to the spouse I'm trying to convince. I brought up a picture of an Oceanic reef-ready set up:

So I have a gun to my head and I was told to ask this question...how many people have ever had a catastrophic tank emptying disaster due to a total drain through the bottom of a pre drilled? Is it an urban legend? How likely is it to happen?

As always, thanks in advance.

The design of the overflow on those prevents the water level from going below the top of the overflow. Even if you pulled the bulkheads totally out of there, the tank will not drain down past the top of the overflow.

I agree with the previous posters. If you buy a ReefReady tank with an overflow box built into it, then the overflow box will prevent the tank from draining out. You will also need to set up your sump and return lines properly, but if you set it up properly then flooding will be a non issue. In my opinion a ReefReady tank is the only way to go.

I guess like anything it always depends on the quality of the craftsmanship...but the gun has been removed, thanks all!
