Pre filter question off of main drain?

Hello All,

I just wanted to know if everyone is using a pre filter(Filter sock) off of the main drain? I just added some new corals and soon will be adding stereonephthya and Dendronepthya sp and wanted to make sure that if I add more food in the tank won't the sock, or pre filter take more of the food out? I love to know what everyone does.

I took mine off some time ago. Was collecting too much food. Now, either the skimmer gets it or the food goes back to the tank.

+1 collected food turns to PO and No3. Remove it or recirculate it.

Thanks I just removed it and directed my drain right to the bottom of the sump.
