Precision Marine HOT skimmer?

Since the Aqua C Remora I have is a POS and haven't gotten any response from the manufacturer on how to fix it, I have decided to use it as a $200 paper weight. I'm thinking of purchasing the Precision Marine HOT model with a MJ1200. I was wondering if anyone has one and could let me know how well it skims and how easy it is to adjust. It will be going in a 55 gallon tank with only corals. Thanks.

I had one on a smaller tank and it worked well...reliable and easy to adjust with a good air valve on the MJ venturi and ball valve adjustment for the water level.....just keep the venturi clean or it will need more attention.

I have to agree with Mike here on this one.....I've got a PM HOT-1 running on my 40 gallon with a 15 gallon sump/fuge (50 gallons system volume) and it does a good job. If you keep things clean, they do a good job of producing skimmate. I run my skimmate fairly dry, so I get about a cup or so of really dark chocolatey-brown skimmate a week. It's definitely a good skimmer for it's price - PM makes good skimmers all around.

Same thing thats wrong with all the other remora that people have been complaining about. It just skims light green stuff and I barely gaet half a cup in 1 week.

I had one on a 40gal and the problem was water evap. Constant adjusting for water level difference to get a average skim with this thing, sometimes wet, sometimes dry, I live in SOCAL so that could have been the problem still it was a problem. Went to a aquamedic turboflotor1100 multi, problem solved.
