preferred mode?

getting a nice 1 inch pulsed wave from my two pumps in my 150g.
my sense is that overall flow is decreased as opposed to running them continuously. What do people think is preferred for the corals and fish in a mixed reef---higher flow or wave action?

I actually seem to get better flow on the pulse setting in my 180.

My 210 is 7 feet long. I feel strongly that I get better flow cranking all the pumps up on constant mode.

Well, I've run 2 vortechs full go for several months on my 5 ft 150
bare bottom tank. Will now see how pulsing "wave mode" goes for a while. Am concerned i may get more detritis settling, but wonder how the back and forth wave action will affect my corals.
After 24 hours maybe better extension on torch and frogspawn
and no difference seen on pe of sps.
