Pregnant firefish?

I have a pair of firefish and one is suspiciously "fat" in the abdomen. It's has been about two weeks since I noticed this condition. Can you tell me how long gestation would be and if there is any hope for the fry to survive with other fish in the tank? Should I be trying to provide anything special?

it's not pregnant. sorry :sad2: two weeks is entirely too long. it's doubtful you'd even notice the females abdomen swell until less than 24 hours before the release of the eggs.

more than likely it has an internal infection of some sort. i'm not your best advice in that department. you'll get better advice from the fish disease forum. generally, however, internal diseases are not easy to combat.
