Fishboy42 Premium Member Dec 6, 2007 #4 I have never noticed the belly darkening before spawning on clownfish (as it sometimes does with freshwater livebearers). If spawning is imminent (within a day of spawning), the female's egg-depositing tube (ovipositor) will be extended.
