preparing for haddoni arrival

hi all - so, I've decided to get a haddoni to add to my 125G tank. I've read through many of the threads in this forum, including all of the sticky threads at the top. I've done a lot of reading elsewhere on the internet and have ordered a few books that i will read once they get here. I'm definitely doing my homework before beginning this adventure. I've set up a treatment tank with a 20G tank, a heater, a powerhead and some eggcrate to divide the tank in half. I have a ceramic coffee mug on hand to help get the foot secure to something. I think the only puzzle piece that I have left is having the Cipro on hand to dose if needed. My question is - how does one obtain Cipro? It appears from various google searches that I need a prescription to buy it. Do those of you with experience go to a vet and get a prescription? Your advice would be appreciated.

Treatment tank sounds pretty small...and unneeded if nem is healthy. ...they do not ship well and need very stable perams...and added minor trace elements...high lighting and clowns are good at keeping other fish away so they don't get eaten

Thanks for the link. I did find it a lot cheaper, but needed a prescription from a vet to get it. There were 500 mg tablets for $0.29 each on some vet med sites! I'll get this one if I can't find any way of obtaining it cheaply.

Not the same as cipro. Cephalexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic and ciprofloxacin (cipro) is a flouroquinoline. Cipro is more broad spectrum and treats both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, while Cephalexin is more effective to gram-positive bacteria.

You should spend 10-20 dollars for ciprofloxacin and have it ahead of time. Any question at all you should treat him ASAP.

haven't got anything yet - just getting prepared right now. I will definitely post pictures once I get one. thanks for all your advice, OrionN, I kind of feel prepared for this new adventure!
