Preparing the tank for Christmas break

I'll be leaving for a week over Christmas break and am a little paranoid about leaving the tank. I am dosing baking soda and liquid calcium (Kent) and I have my auto top off hooked up to a 5 gallon bucket.

Can I switch over to a 10 gallon tank for the ATO without running into a tank crash in the event that the ATO goes crazy (just being prepared, it's been well behaved thus far)? My total water volume is probably ~70 gallons.

When I went home over Thanksgiving break I had an alk swing and my superman digitata frags have still not completely recovered from it...can I add some baking soda to the 10 gallon ATO tank? If I need to I can add a powerhead to the ATO tank to keep the water moving for the baking soda (not sure if I need to, but I wasn't sure if it would dissapate out).

Thanks in advance! :)

I'd say, IF everything works you'll be fine. I'm not sure about having to stir it for baking soda. Maybe somebody else could help with that. I would switch it over to the 10 gal as soon as you can to get it all set up and working before you leave. I always prefer to check a new set-up daily until I'm sure it's ok.

over thanksgiving break i went home for a week straight and had 7gallons in my ato and it ran dry i guess RIGHT before i got back because nothing was messed up other than some bubbles in the tank which i caught in time. I have a 40g display with a 30g sump, so not quite as much volume as you.

I would go without the baking soda and just use ro/di until you get back. If anything were to happen, the fresh water won't hurt anything in the tank.
