On Wednesday April 25th, 12 members of Tampa Bay Reef Club met to discuss the status of the TBRC leadership. After about 1 hours of discussion it was agreed that we would seat a full Board of Directors. This Board will be in place until December 31st. At our October Meeting we will have a full election to elect a Board for the 2008 Calendar year.
This interim board will be presented to the membership of Tampa Bay Reef Club at the May meeting. At the meeting if anyone has any problems with the people that have volunteered for the board you will be able to voice your concerns, and have the opportunity to step up and volunteer to fill that position.
The 2007 TBRC Interim Board of Directors is:
President â€"œ Bryan Gifford (WarDaddy)
Vice-President (Education) â€"œ Mike Lamb (mflamb)
Secretary â€"œ Sue Ingold (NONNA58)
Treasure â€"œ Laura Cline (LauraCline)
Membership Director â€"œ Angela Westphal (angelsil)
Mike Sweet will be taking an advisory role helping to direct the board with some of his experience and ideas.
The Board will be focused on getting meetings organized, educational, social and fun. Sue will be working with members that are willing to host meetings and keeping some minutes. Mike will be working to be sure we have quality content to discuss at each meeting. Angela will be working to ensure that new people attending meetings are acknowledged and made to feel welcome and that we have a good roster of members. Laura will be working to be sure that the clubs finances are all square. I will be working on meeting agendas (with Mike and Sue), a new dynamic website, and working with the board and members to get things going again. The entire board will work on getting some formal by-laws written and adopted to help guide and govern the club for years to come, and are exploring the need to formally incorporate the club.
All of the Board Members and many other members have some great ideas on activities, events, education, and general items that they would like to try, the more ideas we have the better. For instance, we are looking at putting together a mentoring program (more on that later). Please feel free to talk with any of the board members if there is something that you would like to see the club do, do better, or stop doing. We want to hear from all of you. The more input we get from the members, the more likely we are to get this club to a place that everyone is happy with.
The Board is going to need help and assistance with planning, researching and other activities though the year. Let us know if you are willing to help with something.
If you are willing to host a meeting of the TBRC, please contact Sue. We are hoping to have the next 6 months booked up.
Here is to making a good club great!
