Does anyone know of stores in the area selling the driveway heat yet, or peladow the mini-pellets? Calcium chloride...

Also looking for the Mag Flake...Magnesium Chloride hexahydrate

I am going to try the Randy Holmes Farley two part (actually 3 part) recipe.

Wal mart should carry it. and for Mag. I use epson Salt which Wal Mart carries too.

I was going to try recipe #2. #2 Part 3A calls for the use of epsom salts and the magnesium chloride hexahydrate. It is prefered from a chemistry standpoint, which means to me to follow the recommendations... not having done so well in chemistry...

Howie...I have some Prestone Driveway Heat I will never use again since the calcium reactor, you are welcome to it. :-)

Depends on when I go to the city next. I'll try and do that by the weekend. The stuff works good too and is an excellent finishing salt for fish and poultry. :D

If you do approx. 30% water changes per month, it really makes no difference if you use the epsom or MgCl. I did that for about 1-1/2 years with no issues. I still am doing 32 gallons per week(occationally 2 weeks) on 235 total system volume which is over 50% a month, but I was in the mood to order the correct balanced type one day so I ordered it.

I was just going to do what was recommended on the recipe. RHF did say you could use just Epsom salts, but he also said a combo of the MgCl and the Epsom salts was prefered.
