Pretty cheap frags for the quality your getting

Thanks mike can't wait for the new additions to my tank checked out your tank thread I must say beautiful reef.

I will be meeting up with Mike near Aquarium Concepts for pickup of my frags.

One option/question is do you guys want to arrange it so I pickup on Saturday on day of our next meetup?

I need to check with Mike if that is an option. That may be safer/more reliable than shipping.

Just a thought. Since Mike works on Saturdays and not Sundays, I am guessing our next meetup should be Saturday. :)

Just food for thought.

Isnt our next meeting a month from now? Im currently working a hypertension convention and im on break LoL.

Ron, Im thinking individuals would like the corals rather than waiting till June. Thanks for the offer.

PLEASE make a payment to Mike by tomorrow (sunday). He will then cut the frags and we'll wait a week for healing period before shipping. Thanks

No worries.

I'll pay Mike and arrange pickup with him in Dublin area for myself. He can just ship out your orders separate from mine.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but I'm hoping you mean WCR paid. ;)

Ken, I hope you didnt think that we were using wcr funds here? Items were for me and other ncrc members. I know we talked about the club purchasing items but I feel I have no right to choose what the club wanted. And since no one took initiative of okaying the use of club funds, I just decided to add other hobbyists that I know to achieve the free shipping. Please let me know. Thanks

The only reason I asked cause mike asked if you were still interested. Thanks

Hola Dragon.

My comment simply was asking about your NCRC versus WCR usage. We changed names during the first months of my presidency and it seemed maybe you were still using the old name. That's all.

I did not / do not expect club funds to be involved with this, though if that were to happen I wouldn't be sad. I agree that ideally the use of club funds would be discussed and approved before purchases were made.

I am still very interested. Gimme gimme gimme. Please. :D

Early in the Thread you mentioned using club funds and I replied confirming we should. Club funds are for buying Corals for the raffle and it looks like this thread is all about buying Corals.

If there is a good deal out there we as a club should be proactive in buying corals for the club raffle.

Bob,

I understood there was interest but that's all I got from it. There wasn't a clear objective rather than "those are nice frags and we should get some for the club". The thread was up for a descent amount of time for members to intervene questioning if the club was going to buy some of the corals. Even if we got corals for the club next problem was to figure out who was going to house them? In my case I HATE being responsible for items that are not mine. So I don't volunteer myself nor do I want any responsibility if anything happens.

So we can either re-pay Ken, Ron or even Robert for the corals they have purchased with club funds to grow out the selected SPS they have chosen. That's pending if they want the responsibility? Bob is that something we can do with the funds? Or should we grab other items not selected also? Shipping is free so adding more isn't going to be a problem. Let me know.

Ken, I apologize for using the NCRC (I don't even remember what our club name was before WCR to be honest. What was it anyways?), just thought everyone knew it was for the Northern California Reef Club.

Maybe this should be taken offline and let the club know the verdict?

I have only been attending a 2-3 years, when Ken was prez, then Tom prez w/ Grant as VP. Bob was always been Treasurer. It seemed the BOD has always made the conscious decision for the greater best of the club. Funds were used to purchase corals to add to the variety of the meeting raffles and for the year end party. Corals were purchased from great deals on breakdowns and even from oculus. Club members would see frags in raffle labeled club corals.

The raffles have grown. The donation of $5 per ticket helps build the club fund. The amount of total frags obtained from all the purchased tickets depends on the pool of total donated frags by members. Seems like the average is about $20 donation and the amount donations have grown over the course of time. Current members seem to understand to donate frags and purchase tickets, which is different from a swap where its a systematic orderly one for one trade. Current member donations help support the ratio of current to brand new members, which would not brig corals to their first meeting. Because all the members keep donating their stock, the variety may get redundant thus the need to add more externally purchased corals.

Expressing my thoughts on how I perceive how club funds are generated and used. The logistics of determining and implementing the purchase was in the hands of the BOD to decide.

Mike

I'm just saying when there's a deal to b e had let
s keep the club in mind. We as Mike said need to bring new corals into the raffle to keep up interest and participation with the raffle.

I think the process to decide to use club funds for coral purchases has been a very casual process. I remember many quick conversations or texts between BOD members about buying corals. I hav e complete faith in all current and past officers and believe they will make the right call.

Dragon I totally understand you're reservations with who holds the corals, but this is a concern every reefer would have and is part of the territory and I can't see anyway to avoid it. If a member feels they're tank can hold corals for the club and a coral dies that's just part of the deal. That's why it's so important to spread the corals around so as to have a better chance of having them make it.

It's no big deal if we didn't get anything for the club out of this purchase. Lets all just try to keep in mind that we are always looking for frags for the raffle and why you're spending you're own money and the club can help with the purchase it seems like a "Win Win"

So if there's a coral or two you think would be a good fit for the club add it on to the order. We got a raffle coming up next month.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. That's why I want the BOD on an agreement when making any purchases rather than comments. Bob mentioned that we are going to be having a meeting next month which is literally 3-4 weeks away pending on the location established. So pretty much in no time a meeting will be coming up LOL

I want to say we still have items in tom's tank from the purchase of Ben's breakdown so were still good :)

Dragon, no worries about the name. I was kinda just ribbing you a little tiny bit in a most friendly way. And for the record, I believe it was North Coast Reef Club when I was sworn into office.

For what it's worth, I think our club does a good job sharing, and improving the way we get new corals into the club would be a good idea. I believe we're doing the right thing here, having this discussion, agreeing on general guidelines, and possibly formalizing a process by which new corals can be brought into the club. If people want to take it offline, that's fine by me, although I personally like the transparency and visibility of the decision making process.

I had no expectation of being reimbursed for these frags when I indicated my interest. Besides, they're going to be small and are going to need some time to grow before they can be fragged themselves and included in the raffle.

I appreciate everyone's efforts lining this purchase up. :D

Ken, I agree with you about being transparent and visible for members to chime in about how the funds should be spent. If someone doesn't agree they could always voice their opinion.

What we do have for the club if individuals don't know are the following:

- I want to say a variety of zoas from Ben's tank and what we had previously. These are in Tom's tank still.

- A variety of chalices atleast half a colony of 3-4 different kinds which were purchased from Tom for the club. These are being held in Bob's tank.

-If we have anything else please chime in.

I always have frags Im willing to share. I was actually thinking of selling a few pieces left over from the tank rebuild if anyone is interested. Included are 1- Red Dragon, a few pieces of Bali Tri Color, some nice pieces of Rosegarden acro, some other stag frags and maybe a piece or two of the Purple Bonsai Ken posted pictures of. Let me know if any of you are interested. :)
