Price of Corals in STL

Trust me, All the sps or lps i saw from online vendor or store from another states are super nice. Our local fish store market are nothing compare to other market. I guess it depend on where the high end market at. The Corner Reef is the only one with a little bit high end stuffs in our market. If you get a change check out world wide coral or topshelfaquatic. Those are just a few but there are a lot more. Not sure if you hear of dip n dot for sps, for zoa stratosphere are 350-400 a poly, mushroom are wwc bounce and jb breaker.

LOL, I just checked out the two sites you quoted and world wide is nothing but over saturated blue lighting. If you want nothing but dayglow look and no growth, just buy those "plain" looking corals at the lfs and put them under only blue lighting and you'll have the same thing. topshelf is slightly better on the pics but is still price gouging, they are charging 40-60 bucks for common stuff and only for 1/2-3/4 inch frags. For that price they should be 1.5 to 2" frags that have a much higher survival rate.

Sadly, it's the 1 in 100 hobbyists that actually buy stuff at these prices that keep the gougers in business and prices over inflated.

Let's not forget that online pricing is also going up because of the lack of lfs for a lot of hobbyist based on region. Competition drives the price. And the lack of local support drives internet prices up a little. Then the local store think they can get that type of money. Just because we see high prices on the net doesn't mean that's what they are really getting. Not to mention how do we know how many they sell and at the actual price sold. I don't believe everything I see on the net at face value. If I don't see the value in something I don't have to buy. Eventually thing will balance out.

I have gotten some stuff from online vendors. I have had mixed results. I paid premo prices for a few corals from Vivid and wont do that again, they looked nothing like the picture regardless of lighting. Sent them email and got "we're sorry you feel that way, we will do better on your next order". Nope.
However, I have ordered multiple times from Jason Fox's website with amazing results and true to life coral matching each sales photo. The monti's and acro's I got from him came with a premo price, but I felt the packaging, service, and health of the coral's made the price sting less.
I get most of my coral from shops around town, the "high end" ones I do own are growing out for trade and CDP, but I will most likely just kill them lol, my tanks taken a few hard hits with me attempting....attempting to learn how to dose for growth. I say my skimmer is killing corals.....ITS MY SKIMMER DANG_it! :p

cheers,
Tom

That's a hard question to answer. If I'm not mistaking the CDP list is around 150 corals.

Correction I went through the the CDP list and if my count is correct we have 247 corals:dance:

That's a lot of corals to choose from. Come on SLASHers lets get the CDP hopping
