Prices in the selling forum

Whats the deal with the prices that people are asking in the selling forum.
Are they looking to retire on thier rare pieces. Come on no one is still paying 200.00 an eye for a bubble gum, or anything else , are they ?
Better off buying from a sponsor, guys come on ease up.....

Yeah, they still do pay it... Some people on there sell for less though. But If I paid 250 an eye for a BGM last year, I'd want to recoup some of that if possible...

Haha, it is priceless when someone pays so much for something then trys to sell it for equal or more later on. I mean bubble gums are not rare by any means and they go for 25 an eye in NJ, As well as a place here that sells TRUE red hornets for 30 bucks. Yet people still lay out 100 or more for them just because they don't look around or they think their LFS is doing them right.

I think it is crazy. I keep everything under $100.00. Dont get me wrong they sure are nice, but just too much at once for me.

i always love it when the people in my local forum sell stuff for above LFS prices... makes me laugh...

or when they obviously photoshop the heck out of the coral pics and say "look at the color" LoL...

but seriously, its a joke... ashame really

example, the 195 dollar vortec mp 10 that is older than 6 months and they say they will give you a deal at 175...

or the 3' (6) bulb teklight with bulbs, that would cost about 400 with new bulbs, selling it for 350 with bulbs that arent even close to new...

these are two examples of things i've inquired about...

I think that is what they paid and they are trying to get their money back. There are alot of people out there that will spend lots of money on a coral just because someone says that it is rare.

If you don't like a persons price, move on. Ignore it.
If the price is too high, no one will buy it, and then maybe the price will go down.

I hate it though when I sell something that is the exact same thing another guy is selling, And I have it for half the price and the guy starts complaining that I'm ruining his sell.

then he just needs to quit whinning.

a persons prices on anything is nobodies business but his own, high or low.
if it's too high, that's his problem and people won't buy.

its worse than that, they sell at diver's den prices, but have no guarantee whatsoever.

I love the vortech scam.. I call it that b/c there is no other way to put it .. Honestly I learned that somthings are worth buying new y? B/c you get what u pay for... And some ppl aren't honest (got screwed a couple of times) But I do get acouple of chugs out the sale forum

I love threads like this because I always say the exact same. To those people they don't have an aquarium and corals because they just want it because it looks nice in the home. These people set up shop and only buy name corals because to them a coral is essentially a money tree. It's grows, they cut it and sell that frag for the price they paid for and wait for another piece to grow so they can sell it. Me I just have tanks because I like then, always have. A coral grows too big, I HAVE to cut it, why not give it away or trade or sell it for next to nothing. A frags breaks off, it's broke already, put it on a plug and give the thing away. What are you going to do with two of the same thing in your tank. There is a thread somewhere on the forum and the guy wants to know which lights to use to grow stuff the quickest so he can frag and sell. It's truely amazing

The used equipment selling for 90% of new price is what I don't understand. Who is willing to take the chance on used equipment from some unknown person for no real savings? I fully understand that when I sell something used, 1/2 - 2/3 of new price is reasonable to sell something quickly.
The absurdly overpriced livestock doesn't surprise me, put a name on it and people think it's something special. I bet if anyone makes up some names for some generic corals they will get a premium.

I am about to put a designer name on my aipatasia and sell them for $50 a head. After that, it will be a LE Hair Algae specimen. A clump will set you back $25. Its "LE", someone will buy it. LOL.
