Probes

Are the profilux probes water proof in anyway? I mean, what options have people used to place probes in their sumps. I'm concerned about the water level rising when the pumps shutoff or is the wiring waterproof.

I know someone suggested I buy the fancy dancy profilux probe holder but is that really necessary?

Hi

Probes not water proof above where the cable goes into the body.

You know you really want the fancy dancy ProfiLux probe holder ;) ;) ;) ;)

During a loss of power, I'm pretty sure my probes will be underwater before the siphon breaks on the return side. I wondered about this the other day because I thought I remember seeing that the pH probe shouldn't be completely submerged.

I now some have made floating rafts for their probes.

But this is one reason why the GHL measurement cell became so popular so quickly, it is not a gimic at all and comes from industry use for prolonging the life of probes and auto cleaning them to an extent.

 Its a sealed unit!

Just plumb inline with any system return or pumped line, naturally you would employ shut off valves either side wouldnt you ;)

Guys - this is not new technology its used in industry alot for "correct" placement of probes that require to operate in critical conditions.

Characteristics
Up to 4 sensors can be inserted into the sealed measurement chamber. The cell provides an optimal flow with a self-cleaning effect for the different sensors, this leads to a higher
life span of the sensors together with a lower maintenance effort.

Installation.

The measurement cell has to be looped into the return line (after the filter). In case of a loss of pressure or flow speed, the use of a bypass has to be considered. The measurement cell has to be positioned in a way that no pressure can build up inside the measurement cell, this could lead to a destruction of the sensors.

For the mounting of a sensor, the corresponding nut has to be loosened, the sensor is then inserted, afterwards the nut has to be tightened again. Sensor holes that are not used can be closed with the enclosed rods.

Technical data
Measurement cell for 4 sensors, non-pressurized operation
Diameter: 110 mm
In- and outlet: PVC, 20 mm
Sensor diameter: 12 mm
Cap O- ring sealed
