Problem with Berlin Skimmer

I bought a tank used and it came with a Berlin hang on skimmer and the guy said all it needed was the pump, so i bought a rio 2500 pump for it but it doesnt seem to be working because it has been running for 3 days and there is nothing in the cup, i dont think it is getting any air because its not making bubbles can anyone help me

heres a dumb question but do you have salt in the water you are trying to skim? i got my first skimmer and tryed to use it in fresh to check it out and thought it was messed up,then my buddy nick laughs at me and says dude you need saltwater.

If that is the berlin air-lift skimmer, then I'd say you should throw it away and buy a better one. I had that skimmer and it barely worked. It was very hard to clean. I spent $70 on a seaclone 100 and it was like night and day.

do you have a veturi in the skimmer. if it had a turbo pump the venturi is built into the pump. there should be a tube coming out of a hole in the body of the skimmer where the water inlet is if there is a plug there it had a turbo pump and you need to get a veturi.

ya it has the hole that a plug is screwed in, where can i get a venturi and how much does it cost

you can get them online and they just go inline on the inlet.

i am not sure exactly what piece i need i looked up venturi and there is a bunch of pieces that come up could someone please show me exactly what i need because i dont want to get the wrong one

is there no way to just get the replacement piece for where that plug is screwed in at

don't know you would have to get a hold of red sea for that. those kent venturis are better anyway. search the diy forum for berlin skimmer mods. there is a lot of people that have made them work pretty good with a few mods.

yes that is the venturi but i am not sure "because i have the turbo" but i think you will need a fitting to go where the plug is to run a peice of airline tubing.
