Problem with Osmolator

I have my osmolator set up since last year and its been doing one hell of a job. I just replaced my reservoir with something else and water kept on going through the unit even though if was off which means that a siphon started. I have no clue why the siphon occurred and im guessing its either the pump or the reservoir. Currently, my set up has my sump ( a standard 10g tank) 6" above the floor and the reservoir is next to it and it is 27" high (the reservoir). Any help? Luckily I was able to notice it before any substantial damage occurred.

This graphic should explain the usual siphon culprits. Anytime your reservoir water level is above the end point of the hose, it will siphon.
