Did a water change the other day and while doing this I turned off my protein skimmer to clean out the skimmer cup. When I went to start it back up it didn't start. Thought it needed a cleaning. So when I took it apart, I was amazed that I found the shaft snapped in half. Picture below:
I could not find anywhere on the interent that had replacement shafts. So I ordered a new impeller that was suppose to be a lot better for $40. I can't get it to work. I even tried the old impeller on the new shaft and it won't work. Am I missing something? Is my pump dead and I'm out $40? Below is a video of the pump working (sorry for the quality, first time using the video feature from my iPhone):
