Problem with protein skimmer

Hello all- This past weekend I did a 10 gallon water change in my 60 gallon tank. After the change, everything was working like it always does...

Today comes and it seems that the skimmer lost its prime...I took it apart to check it out and hooked it back up and still the same problem...no priming at all..

is there something i can do to get this to prime without blowing out the motor?? any advice?

the protein skimmer i have is the Reef Octopus 1000...

Any help would be great

If this is supposed to be a self-priming pump then: remove pump, disassemble, clean, reassemble, try again outside of the tank before putting it back in the skimmer. (I realize this sounds trivial, but I've owned a lot of pumps, and many times they just need cleaning.)

If this is not supposed to be a self-priming pump, then you will need to dump water down into the line to prime it, of course
