Ok I set up my tank and when I turn everything on there is the yuck stuff accumilating in my sump part of my trickle filter

It looks like dissolved organic waste like what the skimmer collects I'm really freaking out right now please help Thank you Sandy & angie

help! please I need to know if this is something I should be concerned with I have a trickle filter with skimmer attached and water is flowing so hard into the section with the bio balls that it is running over into the return and leaving a layer of foam please tell me if this is normal

my advice= remove bioballs...

sounds like your return pump might be a little more than your sump design can handle....

how new is the tank? was it cloudy when this sump was started up.... if so, it should cycle threw and settle down. If there are a lot of particles in the water the skimmer will take them out easily.

our trickle filter came as a whole with the skimmer and bios and 2 pumps with no instructions , so are you telling me the pump that is by the skimmer is the sump pump and the side where I said the water keeps spilling over is the return correct, so the reason the water is building up over the bios and not dripping quick enough and overflowing into the return is because we need a better return pump?

yeah, it's really hard to help you with so little information. can you get pictures of the sump area as well as the stuff you're concerned about?

ok here are the pics, the pic of the return area is where the water keeps overflowing and the pic of the sump and skimmer area is where I am having my biggest prob. now my skimmer cup is filling up with water and running into the 2 ltr bottle from the little hose thats connected to the skimmer please give me some advice.

I think you can upload the pics to your gallery if that is easier. Do you know what brand the sump is or anyone else who has the same sump in action? Can you ask around where you got it from for help possibly?
