Should I really worry about it going nuts. I may fire up the vodka dosing really good. I have to look into the proper levels.
Yeah... dinoflagellates will take over your tank if you aren't aggressive in combating them. Do your research on the different ways people have used to get rid of them. You may end up using several methods in your battle as I did.
Dinos can be a challenge to get rid of.
On my first attempt I did 3 days lights out and dosed hydrogen peroxide(1ml per 10 gal)for the 3 days. On the 4th day took the tarp off and kept lights low for a week then up the lighting slowly but it was back in 2 weeks.
Without delay I ordered Fauna Marin Ultra Algae X and followed the instructions for dosing.(for my tank it was 14ml daily and I used it for 5 days, you can go up to 21 days)
First time I dosed it stayed away for 2 weeks then came back. I dosed a second time and its been gone now for almost 2 months. I'm pretty sure I was successful in getting rid of the dinos.
No fish/corals were harmed by this treatment.
I realize many aquarist are opposed to using chemicals in the reef tank and believe me I don't like it but I can speak from experience it worked and I don't think I harmed the system in a negative way.
Anyway, like I said do your research and go from there. And if you decide to go with Fauna Marin X it can be a little difficult to find but I have a lot left. If you need some pm me and we can work out a plan to get it to you.
Good luck!
