problems already...

so i got a nice group of zo's and they were my first ever zo purchase! of course i was excited. heres a pic.

but i noticed that a couple of the polyps didnt open and tonite i think i saw a flatworm or somthing on them so i tried to pull it out with tweezers with no luck. i did grab once with the tweezers before he got away however and he felt real hard. please everyone i need your help!

take the rock out and try a freshwater dip. Did you do one before adding it to the tank?.. I FW dip all my zoas before adding to the tank and I think I read others say they have gotten rid of flatworms that way too. Just put the rock in a small dish of RO water for 2-4 minutes and that should have the flatworms leaping like lizards yet not harming the zoas. If they are already on other rocks within the tank, try a scooter blenny if your tank has room. I had a friend that had an infestation and the scooter blenny made quick meals of the Flatworms.

can you give a little more info about the worm. what color, were did it go. are the polyps ok and back open now. do you know what a bristol worm is. might have been one of them

no the zo's aren't back open now and the worm like i said was hard and looked kind of grayish with black and white and went back into the rock i think. thanks for your replies.

Is the colony the same sizeas when you bought it? Until you see some changes in the colony or get a visible picture of the worm, it's very hard to help you.

can individual polys just die off or shrink from not being open? if so does this effect the colony or just the individual polyps.

so the original reason why i had posted this was because i thought there was somthing harming my new zo's and for the second time now i have seen the culprit. it appeared to be the arm of a brittle star and it was pulling on one of the polyps. i also noticed a fireworm(bristle) and know that that wont harm them. however this is not the samething. it was the same colorfrom of a nomal brittle star but i was unable to see if there was a body or not. i know this is hard with out a picture but i was unable to get one. any input will be very appreciated.
