Problems AquaMedic Spacelight

I'm having a very difficult time figuring out what the H is going on, I purchased a used spacelight it fires up without a problem until I place it over the tank then nothing. I've tried with a timer without a timer directly in the wall closest to my tank and into a extension cord and nothing. Van someone kindly guide me.

it must have a short somewhere try wiggling the cords or plug it in, while it is running place it over you tank to see what could be going wrong.
