My dad is an idiot. he was suppost to help me build a stand. He started with out me and the dimensions are messed up. the tank is lined up perfectly but there is not enough room for my sump now. I am probably goin to buy a sump from glass cages. Problem is, if i have them put the baffles in it they almost double the price of it. so where can i get acrylic baffles locally?

Why not just use glass baffles? You silicone them in and they're not going anywhere. You can get glass or acrylic at HD and maybe Lowes.

its goin to be an acrylic tank and from what i read its hard to glue glass and acrylic together. Know any prices from HD or lowes

Oh - I thought glass cages would make glass - that's what I get for thinking.

I bought a piece of 24" x 36" x 1/4" at HD for 12 or 15 bucks (I think) - it's fairly cheap.

wow i may just try to make a complete sump myself then. glass cages wants $80 for a 48"x 12 1/4" x 16" tank

It's probably thicker material. Combined with the cost of the seam welder stuff, the total is probably just about a wash. You can be fairly certain that theirs won't blow apart so you need to factor that into everything.

A sump probably isn't the best thing to learn acrylic basics on. Start with an overflow or something that won't flood the house if it breaks.

Not trying to discourage you or anything - just years of DIY experience in everything from wiring to woodworking to plumbing. Start out little and work your way up.

i want people to discourage me. i dont really want to make a tank, but if its that much cheper sometimes i force myself into doing it.

be super careful not to scratch the acrylic if you go that route.
i'm living the nightmare of scratched acrylic now. (i didn't do it!)

of course if it's for a sump, it doesn't really matter.

I just purchased a sheet of Acrylic at Lowes for 25.00 it is cast and 1/4". Just use that for your baffles.
