I have tried both of these lights with no success. The chaeto falls apart and died. I have a really heavy bioload - it's a clownfish only system with live rock and a skimmer. Algae grows on teh glass next to the chaeto, but the chaeto itself doesn't grow. I've tried chaeto from multiple sources, so I think I can rule out dead chaeto to start with. The nitrates are usually very high when I test 50-100 depending on how recently I've done a water change. Any ideas? I put the chaeto in a 15G tank with these lights right above it. The maximum distance is about 12" with minimum being 3". It depends on whether the chaeto is floating or on the bottom of the tank.
