Problems Updateing Firmware

So I just noticed I had an older firmware. I guess it was like 4.3 or something like that. I'm currently trying to update the firmware but am not having luck.

I have my unit directly wired to my wireless router.

I downloaded and opened the firmware thing on my computer and clicked the button to update. The process took a long time, like close to 2 hours. It would attempt to do a file, then give a few error messages, then retry and eventually it would would. When it got the the end of the files it said something about not being able to communicate with the apex.

I then tried to update again and this time it took less then 5 minutes and it said complete. A few minutes later I tried to play with my display but it's frozen on one of the menus. I tried to update the web page but this is what I get.

"Uploading file: all.js...

Operation failed with the following error information:

Unable to connect to the remote server

Operation failed with the following error information:

Unable to connect to the remote server"

What am I missing?

Most obvious would be an incorrect address, username or password. But what you describe sounds more like anti-virus getting in the way. Try booting Windows in safe mode and running the uploader from there. In safe mode your anti-virus it not loaded and only minimal Windows components so don't get email or browse the internet but it is safe to perform firmware updates.

The only thing I have is AVG but I'll try the update again in safe mode. I'll be back.......

Still nothing. I've tried to do this in safe mode, safe mode with networking and regular mode. I've tried with two different IP addresses 192.168.1.105 and 192.168.1.50 I've even tried it with my home IP address. Nothing. I've done both the update firmware and update webpage option. I've tried every combination of the items in this paragraph.

My APEX display is stuck on one of the submenus and it won't move since last night. Frozen. I can't access my APEX webpage.

Last night it appears to have finished the entire firmware update but it took like 2 hours. It would attempt to connect, then fail. Then fail again and then it would connect. I think there were around 120 files and I did get a completed message when it hit that number. It's when I went to update the webage that it would never work. Now I'm just getting "can't connect to remote server" messages.

OK, I unplugged my 2 energy bars for a minute and then plugged them back in. My display went dead and the status led's were blinking yellow. I then went to update the firmware again and it took about a minute with no problems. I then did the webpage update and again done quickly. I seem to be back in business!

OK, I'm updated and I can access the APEX webpage but it won't let me change outlet names. I have already changed the probe names but when I click the outlet setup option I'm just left with a blank page that says APEX Outlet Setup.

Do the rest of the pages work OK (graphs, status, XML reports, etc)? If not, your web pages are not properly installed and need to be re-installed.

If all else is OK, then try clearing your browser's cache (temp files, cookies, history) and see if that gets you going.

I was trying to access them through mozilla when this happened. I then used IE and it worked. I am now on a different computer and can access them from mozilla. Thanks!

Good. If you ever have strange behavior from your browser after a load of new web pages, flushing the browser's cache usually fixes it.
