Problems with SPS corals with good water parameters

I do have a decent amount of space under the rocks however I have thought time and time again if I should take some out and redue my aqua scape. Do you think I am to far along to do that? Would it harm my system in anyway?

Thank you all for chiming in with all of the possible issues, I will try 1 thing at a time and monitor the system. I know I must be patient in this hobby. Who knows maybe the tank is just too new to support such advanced and demanding sps coral. Thank you all again for making my first post very welcoming! PS I will work on my picture and editing skills for future posts 😁!

If your corals are up near the top of the tank and are bleaching they might actually be getting nuked by the LEDs. I had to turn mine way down to start with and gradually raise them up. I also have a 40B.

Interesting I thought of this aswell, it looks more like STN cuz it's in the center not the tips closest to the light but it peaks at 65% color and 75% intensity, so I'm still not sure if that is too much or too little light

There is no way that is too little light. I run same lights on a 90 and i never get above 45% intensity. Corals are far more tolerant of low light than too much.

I would definitely look at pests as mentioned above. Specifically red bugs. I had them on a few new sps frags (they got past my initial coral RX dip - I now bayer dip everything fwiw). I bayer dipped the affected frags and put them back in the display and thought that had taken care of them. Colors got browner, and pieces continued to STN (base up usually) despite otherwise perfect conditions. I finally noticed red bugs again on a couple of pieces and resorted to Interceptor. A single dose about two weeks ago followed by a 35% water change and another 20% last week. STN stopped almost immediately and colors are starting to take hold again.

That's my story! Red bugs are an easy one to get rid of, but spotting them can be difficult.

Kessil is one of the worst LED's for light coverage, the par/pur drops off significantly even though it may seem like it's illuminating the tank well. Think of them as a spotlight, that's the best way to explain them. You'll need at least a second for long term growth/success. That being said, depending on where these SPS are this may not be the issue, your FTS is really hard to distinguish between rock and stony corals due to the heavy blue, I see maybe one SPS on the right side and that's about it.

This is actually not true. Kessil has the best spread and coverage out of any of the common high end options. Only the new radion matches them. They also have the best color blending. Yes they have lower peak par/pur values, but that is not the main problem with any of these lights, it is coverage, shading, and hotspots. I do agree he should ideally add a second to increase coverage, as the kessil is only designed to cover a 2x2 area, and it would increase those par values.

BTW I'm no kessil fanboy- I love the MH!

So after a week of running no gfo and no skimmer, both sps have already started to color up and the tips, and slightly extend their polyps 😀. Perhaps it was just too little nutrients in the system! I will continue to monitor things and see how it goes. Thank everyone so much for helping me get to the bottom of this issue!
