problems with stylo and poccilo

Hi,
I seem to always have a problem keeping stylo or poccilopora. My test are
Nitrates 10
Amonnia 0
phosphates 0.3
Alk 8
Calcium 440
PH 8.2
Mag 1400
salinity 1.26
temp between 77 and 80F

I seem to loose every poccilopora, stylo and even birdsnest and have no idea why. I dose vsv and do regular water changes.

Those are some of the easier SPS to keep for me. Do you have trouble with any others?
I do know my poc acts up a little when the DKH falls beow 8. Seems to prefer 8 and higher. I actually use my poc as an indicator. When I see a few polyp retracted I know dkh is in the 7's. I test.. and it is. Bring it back to 8-8.6 and its good again. Kind of weird but thats how my pocliporra acts. I never have any trouble with the stylo. Its always solid.

I know, it's weird. Most people say that it's easy to keep them. I've had problems with a few others here and there(mostly because of faulty test kits grrrr... but i loose every single pocci and stylo. Always the same thing. They slowly start loosing polyps and flesh and it goesn on until it's totally dead. Take a while but it always end up dead :( I checked my refractometer with calibration fluid, bought a phosphate meter and a tds meter but just can't find anything wrong with my water :( I'm afraid to get my Alk higher because i dose vodka, sugar and vinegar. All my dosing is with a profilux doser except for the magnesium that i dose manually once in a while.

Yeah i tried them all over the tank with the same result. I have 3 vortech mp40 ES for flow plus the return pump.

That's very strange...we absolutely love stylos - have many in our current setup, and don't have problems with them. Do you have problems with any montipora or acropora?

Well i can't say that growth is good but at least the others don't die LOL Yeah, i love stylos too and would sooo love to be able to keep them.

I am in the same boat as you. I have a 90 gallon dominate tank and every time I put a stylo or birdsnest in the tank they start to STN about a month in, but then I will put it in my Solana and it recovers and grows, weird same husbandry but fine in one tank and not in the other. It's just one of those things unfortunately.

Chipie , you answer on your question ,,, you have high nutrient level in your tank try to reduce no3 to 0 , and po4 less than 0.03 .
