Problems with tall tanks?

less water surface area for gas exchange, light being able to penitrate to the bottom of the tank, if it is a very tall tanks and not long the fish have not enough room to swim back and forth....i could go on but i think you get the picture.

in my opinion, taller tanks allow for more options as far as aquascaping(if you have width to match).but i see more cons than pros.with a taller tank, you tend to need higher output lights,if the tank is tall, chances are its going to be somewhat skinny(although there are good, tall sizes....48" 120 gallon for ex)
sometimes getting into a deeper tank can be a real chore, ecspecially if its a tall tank with a tall stand....lol

but.....a taller tank would allow for taller coral growth.... :P

yeah i have a tall tank there are pros and cons
its very hard to get to the bottom if something falls
but i love how it looks with alot of rock up to the top
i do like it but if i get another tank it won't be any taller that two feet

Thanks. I have a 37g just sitting in the garage and I want a use for it. I have seen some nice tanks like this in the nano forum on this site, so I'll ask what kind of lighting the have.

you should be fine
how tall is the 37 gallon
my tank is 30 inches tall and that make somthings kinda tough
thats what i though you ment my tall tanks how tall is a 37 gallon

barbra, I would, but there isn't enough space in the house.

EDIT: vr697getta, I'm not sure how tall it is, and I don't feel like finding the tape measurer.

Mag floats don't always get everything; I have to use a long handled scraper. It's also a pain if you have to move anything in the tank...don't get me wrong it's a nice looking tank it's just not as convenient as a shorter tank..if I had it to do over I'd get a longer tank.
