Procuring True Percs.

So, where does one get a pair of tank bred true perculas? LFS seems hit or miss, mostly miss, and I'm not sure any of them are tank bred. I looked online a bit and it's hard to tell who to go with. Also, one company sells tank bred percs. for $18 each, and sells a breeding pair for $75. Why the price discrepancy when it appears relatively easy to establish a pair? Am I missing something :mixed:
Thoughts?

Yes you are missing something. Yes it is easy to establish a pair, it is not as easy to establish a breeding/spawning pair.

Let say you get two junvenile A. percula and pair them. Easy enough, can generally be done in less than an hour. Now to get them to spawn, add another 1-3 years.

Well I figured that it would take a while to get them to mature. I guess what they are missing on the website is any statement saying that they are of breeding age or are readily spawning....

Well, it doesn't say mated pair, but I guess it's supposed to be understood. However, is it semantics between "mated" and "mating" pair. Again, my understanding is it's not too difficult to pair up clownfish, but as JHardman noted, the actual mating might be an issue. Didn't PM yeah, but I'm sure you can figure out the co. Two words. Second word rhymes with repo.

LOL... I follow you...

I too think it is funny that they place such a high value on their ability to place two fish in a single bag...

Thnx Atticus, Looked at the site. Seems a bit limited for livestock, unless you are into Zoo's. I guess I need to check back every once in a while.

Rod's local to me and has tons of SPS. He doesn't really do online stuff. His onyx clowns are just awsome.

So, since he only has some Onyx and they won't be ready for a while, and I may not be tankworthy :D, are there any other options for some decent percs. Not looking for morphs., just healthy tank raised true percs.

I'm surprised it's that difficult in finding CB percs, they're all over down here. It seems like WC are the hard ones to find. There's liveaquaria, inland aquatics, premium aquatics, or just ask you lfs to order you some from ORA.

Seems kinda far from Milwaukee. Maybe I'll email him and he can ship... Any places in northern IL for fish? I went to some place in Park ridge last weekend and was very impressed with what they had, although no percs. at that time.
