My tank isn't large enough for a whole dosage. How do I store a vile thats cracked off at the top? How long will it be useful for?

My other issue is that the ampoules are aimed at dosing a set amount of tank water - if you don't need to use all the dosing from one ampoule, what do you do? Prodibio said you can remove the desired amount from the ampoule with a syringe, then put the ampoule upright into a slice of potato, in the fridge for about a week.
