A small portion of my PRODIBIO tank...

Awesome stuff.

Looks great! Mind sharing what Prodibio actually did for your corals? How long have you been using it ?

This is JMO but the colors I see aren't sending off any wow factors. Maybe some closeups or before after shots would help.....Were you having previous nutrient issues prior to prodibio? Colors are good don't get me wrong but they don't resemble colors like Iwan or some of the zeo users.

This might show a bit more.

Not the best camera.

Got another camera I borrowed, will try some more shots soon.

The last shot is about 4 months old. The blue tort got stung by the Red Cap and is recovering elsewhere at the moment.
Damn it!

The whole setup is only 8 months old. about one quarter of the LR and the corals came from my small 60G cube tank.

I run the BIODIGEST and the BIOPTIM.

I also dose vodka daily and another Euro product called REEFSTAR amino acids.

These amino acids have dramatically affected the way my corals grow. They are simply amazing.

I'm not interested in SPS only tanks as they are not completely natural. My system is 60% dominated by SPS and the rest Zoos and LPS.

IMO they balance a tanks aesthetics.

I would rather lose a touch of colour and have a rich mix.

I also run 25 fish and 8 shrimp throughout the system which would not help with PERFECT colours.

2 large pink skunk clowns
2 x Perc clowns
6 Bartlett Anthias
8 Chromis
1 x blue tang
1 x des jardin tang
1 x Clown tang
2 x yellow tangs
1 x royal grammar
1 x six line wrasse

PLUS

1 x Blood shrimp
4 x cleaner shrimp
1 x Coral banded
2 x peppermint

Plus a CONDY and a BTA of some sort!

However I am very happy with my colours considering the load.

Thanks for the info. The quote above is whats most important.

One Week Prodibo update

I added half of one digest (I have about 120g net system)
I added one bioptim.

No change as yet to algae issues (meaning I have more algae then I am happy with. Phos holds at about 1.0 Salifert)

One zoanthid rock is clearly not happy. For one month it has displayed beautifully but about half the polyps (about 80 total) are now closed.

It is a very young system - only 6 weeks so I tried to dose conservatively.

I am not adding any other types of additives except for actual coral food. This is why I'm glad to see buzz's post.

Now my home 24g nano is just one happy camper dosing 10 drops of vodka daily. Very healthy tank except for SPS which are living but not thriving.

One reason I am hoping the Prodibio produces will work is because I would prefer to be able to dose every other week instead of every day. Also, being a church childcare, I'm not to keen on stocking vodka for an abudance of good reasons. So the adventure continues. I will post pics soon.

Hey Andy, just remove the label on the Vodka bottle and write for "fish tank only"on it. . . Oh wait, I forgot these are teenagers. hehehe. They would even drink that.

actually, I bought a peroxide bottle, took the label off and poured it in. I'm calling it "carbon" which is not an attractive name.

I have been dosing for appox 5 months now. Only prodibio, cv and AAHC. I was dosing vodka up until 1 month ago. In the last month I stopped vodka, and I have been very careful on my measurements and timing of prodibio.

The results have been fantastic. Last night I had some friends over and everyone wanted to know what I had done to my tank. I have been busy the last two weeks so I really have not had a chance to check out my growth and color.

I have decided to stay the course. No more vodka. I now think it had a negitive impact on the prodibio. That makes sense because it is a simular technology. I was adding fuel to the fuel. Also, I believe that one has to be very careful with the dosing.

Very Cool. :)

Here is my update since 7/3.

My corals are looking better everyday. Continued improvement of all sorts of stuff. When things started to go wrong the changes were so subtle that I did not see them or felt they were due to other factors. Now I know as I watch corals return to what they looked like and how they grew before my tinkering and the tank is improving while on Prodibio, just Prodibio.

I have some nasty cyano too. :( I will just leave it and see if Prodibio can knock it out. I am running carbon and intermittant Phosban. I need to get an accurate PO4 test done and I have that set up.

ZoeReef.............after your "A story, a question and a suggestion" post I gotta ask why you posted that and you're not even following Prodibio Protocol. Seems kinds funny. :wildone:

I've been on Prodibio for about a month and a half now, everything seems OK. I haven't noticed any explosive color changes in my corals, but I haven't noticed any problems either. I had about .5 ppm nitrates when I started (barely pink on Salifert), but now the test comes out perfectly clear. I've never had measurable phosphates, so I haven't noticed a change there. I also didn't have any nuisance algae before I started, so I can't comment on that either. I guess my experience has been rather uneventful so far. I do notice that the polyp extension is much better than before the prodibio, but really that's about it.

Actually a very good question. :D My reading of the Prodibio site is that BioDigest will work even if used alone. It is a stand alone product. Bioptim is supposed to increase the effectiveness of Biodigest. I see these Prodibio additives as individual tools, each designed to do something. In the Iwan thread he mentioned that he looks at the corals to determine what he has to do next. I'm trying to learn what each of the Prodibio products does.

But as far as I can tell, I am adding BioDigest per instructions, and as I mentioned in my post, adding Bioptim conservatively.

Prodibio Protocol? Is there one? If there is a standard Prodibio Protocol, I'm unaware of what it is. My plan has been to start with the two most elementary additives which are designed to clear up the tank, zero out the 'ites and 'ates and then see what the effect of these two products is on my tank. Once I understand that, it will be time to begin to see what others may do. I also believe that somewhere in the Iwan thread he mentioned how he dosed conservatively in the beginning. Perhaps that stuck in the back of my head somewhere. I really appreciate your posts as they gave me things to look for. I was surprised to see some of my zoos close up but at the same time, not totally surprised.

Glad to hear

Mike, which products of prodibio are you using? Which product do you think the vodka had competed with?

On another note, I have an update. My tank is two months old now. I dosed my third bought of BioDigest (1/2 ampule) and Biotim (1 ampule) on Saturday. I did a 25% water change on the day previous. The algae problem I had really took a change for teh better after the water change and prodibio dosing. The hair algae is fading fast!

I am also beginning to see massive growth of corraline algae on the rock and especially the foam back wall. Whew! This is where I had hoped to be last month.

To the one whom asked, I do not attempt to save the other half ampule of BioDigest. I do not believe the bacterial culture will survive. It is likely to spoil in a couple days. Therefore, rather than overdose teh tank, I just consider this a reasonable loss. The product is still cheaper than using other brands, which are not provided in single dose ampules, but rather a reusable container.
