Prodibio

Hmmm....I am not sure there. I am venturing a guess that it would give your tank a jumpstart. Have you seen the message board on it at robsreef? Maybe they could help out with that one!

I don't think you need it yet. My tank has been running 1.5 years, and I hope it will make a difference. I'm not sure that it will do anything for a new system, to be honest. It might, but I think the jury is still out at the moment.

Sorry if I'm a wet blanket.

Not at all Melev, I jsut dont want to spend the money if at this point it would not make a difference. I will have to continue my research on this....

Ok Zanclus I am going to try to answer this to the best of my ability... From what I understand the prodibio system will work best for a nutrient starved system in which there is some degree of nitrate as well as the nitrobacter. In a new tank I don' think those will be prevelent enough to warrant the system....I could be wrong. The nutrients that prodibio provides must be used steadly by the inhabitants or it will just be skimmed out. I think that the prodibio product that just provides the bacteria might be worth a look but I would consult Rob at robsreef first.

I am so glad that everyone has started to take interest in this stuff. I think that it will take us beyond the boundrys of were we are at now. I am currently working on have a local retailer provide this product...He is interested however we are having a hard time finding it. There might be one supplier that has it though. We are waiting to hear back from him.

Once again I am pleased that this starting to get popular. We need to share as much info as possiable to help out all reefers.

I ask for your support in getting this made into a sticky so that its always at the top of discussion. I think that this will be great for the club to be on the leading edge of research of a product new to the US

Thanks again everyone
Scott

Ok supplys are in .I'm going to take some pics of my tank before I start . Like I have already said I have been using zeovit for 15 weeks so my tank is looking real good as of right now . I will take water samples and list were they are at as well . I have a hanna meter so PO4 readings will be my main focus 0 is the number I'm shooting for .

I do have pics in my gallery from the start of zeovit to now if anyone is interested .

Darksilenttype, You might want to try using www.photobucket.com to post your pics. You can make them much larger and post them in the thread...Just a suggestion. Also I can wait to see what kind of results you get with the Prodibio I think it will really help to color up your tank even further.

Scott

By all means please post the pics. I think that its great to see how other tanks are doing with different methodology.

Thanks
Scott

I'm more interested in melev results than mine . He has a reputation that will carrie a lot farther than mine will . I did dose for the first time last night . It was kind of easy with the vials that you can break on both sides .The other vial not so much but a little tapping on the back of the vial and it all came out fine .

Just a couple pics of what a low nutreint system can do is this .

As of 3-15-2006 the same pieces

The first piece I broke off the bottom and kept the top
The second piece I left alone .

EDIT: Misread the dates. The corals really turned around for you over the past 90 days.

I'm gonna also bite the bullet and try. I'm in the middle of an algae bloom (tanks been running around 3 months)
(not looking for miracle cure, just curious as to how it will respond and document it). I'll take an embarassing pic of the bloom and then some results to follow.

Hey Scott and URS Reefers!

Please make sure to photograph your tank very well and take water tests so you know where your starting from. I would like that anyone who is trying it to post all they can about on this thread. That way it will be a collection of knowledge and experience about this product.

For the Record:

4/01/06 Started Prodibio BioDigest/Biotpim, 1 vial of each. I will refrain from using ReefBooster until I see a definite lighting of corals.

Tank Specs:

150g display w/DSB 170g total
10 Fish
Carbon 24/7
Po4 Reactor off/on
Ozone
Two ASM G3's
Two 400W XM20K One 175W XM20K
Randy's 2 Part
1ml Vodka Daily

Salinity 1.026
CA 400
ALK 3.2meq/L (I am lowering this #)
Mg 1200
NO3 2.5
PO4 0.0 (color meter would rather see 0.01-0.02 hence the on/off reactor)
Temp 79.3-80.3

I am hoping that use of Bacteria products will stop my occasional cyano outbreaks, allow more fish with more feedings and a better overall coloration of corals. Time will tell. :)

Now for the pics. Not the best but should be useful in determining coloration change......if any!

I'll be back. :smokin:

Kirsten,
Make sure you down the Ozone while your dosing. I can't wait to see if your SPS inprove in coloration. You have some really nice acros. For refrence what are you running for lighting.

Thanks
Scott

Thanks Scott.

I am running two 400W XM 20K with a 175W XM 20K in the middle (where the brace is) Also 370W VHO Actinic.

Yeah........running Ozone seems to be a drawback for bacteria however after reading some Randy H. Farley I don't think I will alter my current set up. This way we will see results with Ozone. :)

I also have a shipment of Bac/Bacfood coming from PolypLabs and they say there method works better with Ozone.

Kirsten

Is there a reason your not dosing 2 vials of bioptim?
You tank looks great by the way .

Melev

yes 90 days after adding then to my tank system . These are two of the coral pieces given to me by my LFS that they had given up on and were down stairs in a sump . I ask the owner to find me some of the worst old almost dead pieces he had and these are two of them there are two more that I got .One didn't come back at all and the third is doing better than any of them but I didn't want to clog this thread with my pics .

I am very interested in your results .

Nice looking tank.

Do you have any problems with the Orange Scolymia on the left side of the tank? It looks pretty close to the Red Lobophyllia.

Hmmm...........well.........because I read it wrong! That is what this thread is for. I have you guys to keep me in check! ;)
So I dosed another vial today.

I am still waiting on the PolypLabs products.

Not yet......I love those two corals. There is a kelly green Lobo to the left bottom of the red (did'nt make this pic)

Kirsten,
I never really thought about the effects on periodic Cyno blooms. I hope this will do something about it. I seem to get a bloom every couple of months. I would love to hear that the Podibio does something about that.

I am also interested to see how this will work out with ozone. I think we are really starting to put together a database with this thread. I am looking forward to hearing some more new information.

Thanks
Scott
