Prodibio

Hey Guys,

KirstenK told me about this thread in a PM.. so here I am... interested in seeing other people's experiences with these bacterial products.

I'm using the Reefresh stuff from polyplabs.

I've been using it for just over 6 weeks now with some very obvious improvements in tank overall. Most noticeable in the few SPS I have.

I've never been successful keeping SPS colourful in the past so my latest tank has been a predominantly LPS tank. Here is the last photo I took of it before I tore it down...

However, in light of my pleasant successs with probiotic methods I decided to be brave (idiotic) and I tore down my LPS tank and sold almost all of my non-SPS corals... I really hope I don't regret this decision!!

So with this reefresh stuff in hand, I hope to rebuild a predominantly SPS tank and plant the forbidden rainbow garden =)

One question..How much are you guys paying for the prodobio stuff a month?

For a 200 gallon system, I'm spending just under 30 bucks canadian a month for a full set of the Reefresh bottles.

(I"m always on the prowl for somethin cheaper hah)

Hey Dave,

Great looking tank! Let's see the new one. :D

You can see the Prodibio products and prices at www.robsreef.com I haven't figured it out but I think Reefresh is the cheapest.

I continue to use both of these lines and am probably going to buy the addtional 2 products that Reefresh carries. Much cheaper than Zeo.

Hey CProwler I paid 185 CDN for the complete Reefresh kit. I bought it from the manufacturer website. [violation]
Cerreta: I think the bacteria in reefresh is also alive, just dormant. My understanding from school is that bacteria in a bottle can never be truly live. It would die off very quickly. Judging by how fast I'm used the stuff, the kit would probably last me about 4 - 4.5 months my 200G system.

My new system is about 100G I'm hoping to get 8-9 months out of the kit.

Kirsten, the new tank is still empty. I've been really busy in school and I haven't found the time to move the stuff from my old tank in.

But soon!

ReefCentral is against any vendor or employee hiding their identity to promote their products on our, or any other bulletin board. This is unethical behavior.

I just ordered 30 amp BioClean Marine (15 each BioDigest and Bioptim) and 12 amp Reef Booster for my 90g tank. I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes.

Alright guys I am going to start dosing tonight. I will update you all on how things go. In the next day or so I will post the starting point info and pics.....Wish me luck.

Thanks
Scott

Thats great Scott!!!

I can report extremely clear water. The side view is just as clear as the front on. If it weren't for micro bubbles and flow you would think there was no water. :D I am cleaning the front glass less often too.

I've been tagging along here, and just picked up the PolypLabs Refresh System today. Cant wait to see how it works!

I just dosed my 3rd reefbooster dose and I really do not like the cloudiness of the tank for so long, I also noticed some sps sliming after the dose. It seems like there are a lot of microbubbles for a long time too.

Anyone ?

Hi Marilyn,

I dose Prodibio and Reefresh. Pretty much per the instructions except I dose some vodka in place of the Fuel and Bioptim.

I get the same cloudiness (see my post above on this page) when I use Booster. Some sliming and the microbubbles (I think that might have something to with with the Bac).

I was super impressed with my tank following Booster, so I will definitely continue it.

Thanks Kirsten

Yes my tank is crystal clear today. I am thinking of dosing it at night after the lights are off, so I wont have to see it. But then I cant turn the skimmer off, not sure how much that would matter.

I thought the bioptim is mainly used to feed the digest. Not sure what the fuel is but I dont see how you could replace it with vodka, but then again I am new to this

Hey all,

My tank is awesome clean. Nitrates are between 1-2. I added 4 anthias. :)

Marilyn, I am trying to see if the source of the carbon is important. So I am dosing vodka as one of my sources. Eventually I will stop and do more fuel/bioptim and note if I see any improvement. I do not shut off my skimmers for any dosing. My skimmers did shut down after the Booster and then they overflowed.

Couple of pic. The first is pre probiotics. The second is from today. Look at the crude on back pane that is now gone from pic 2.

This pic is a side shot. The baby blue sign (written with a sharpie) is on the wall 4 ft from the tank and I have not cleaned that side in 2 months min.. :) The tank is 6 ft..

Thats awesome Kristen. My tank is very clear but I have to clean the sides a lot. I did take some pics of mine before and after probidio in my gallery as I started around 4/8. My camera is just not well suited for tank pics unfortunately.

I have been considering adding the Zeostart as Iwan does but am a little leary of it. Maybe I will it and dose a very small dose. What would you add from the reefresh to take it's place?

I did test my nitrates yesterday and they were at .2 salifert and they have always been 0 before. I am wondering if that is due to the reefbooster.

Just ordered some from Robsreef. Only regret is that I chose the 2nd day shipping i/o over night - I can't wait any longer ;)
