Profilux and Battery Backup (sensing)

My current tank is small and I've got a large battery backup (UPS) that I've got the Profiux and my entire tank running off of. I've got the Power Bars setup with an 'initial' configuration such that when the Power Bars lose communication with the Profiux only a minimal amount of light and pumps is turned on.

My UPS (an APC Smart UPS) has a few different ways to communicate that its on battery and/or that the batteries are almost depleted.

What type of inputs are available on the Profilux 3 EX and what various levels/data will they accept?

I'd like to find some way that when the UPS goes on battery for an extended period of time, the Profilux gets a signal and automatically kills power to certain predetermined devices so that I can conserve battery power, yes the Power Bars are configured for this but thats only good if I still have AC power

Also be nice if there was some way to have Profilux send me an email that the power was out and my tank was about to crash

I'm also trying to find a way to acheve this. so far what I have do is to place one GHL powerbar on UPS the other GHL powerbar on the wall directly.

Not really a nice solution but it works.

I started looking at the serial port on the UPS but it's not as simple as connecting to the ADin card as teh signal is digital (APC's smart protocol). So this wouls have to be implemented internaly or we could build a small app to run on a pic chip to od the translation to the ADin it's on my TO-Do list just not sure when I will get to it!
